PROJECT-FRENTZOS is about wearable art, a meeting of the minds, a clash of the titans, so to speak ,between a contemporary artist’s work and the designer Angelos Frentzos.
2013 sees Frentzos Project tackle the work of american artist Michael Bevilacqua. Born in California in 1966, now living in NY, his work explores his fascination with Pop and Goth culture. Infused with a lexicon of icons and logos, blurring the lines between high and low culture, his paintings record a visual diary that teeters on the brink of Pop but with an underlying sense of aggression that betrays a distinct Rock sensibility. A sensibility which is very close to Angelos’ and results in a strong, dark, forcefully elegant and sexy collection, a sort of black war-cry fused into a few basic items of clothing: hard, sleek, pure, as that first hormonal rush of refusal, that first goth concert, like a Cure vinyl pressed onto your skin.
The concert begins on May 31st on
