Doing away with YSL’s stuffy grand-dame of alcoholic fashion finale and reaching back to Yves’ debut as the enfant terrible of French Couture, Hedi casts modern-day rock heroes, alternative saints, epic cast-offs in their own styling, their own signature kookiness, using Saint Laurent clothes from a number of collections, in what is ever more a move away from the ‘trend’ factor of each season, towards a new iconic status for the brand. A move that obviously shocks, annoys and ruffles the feathers of all those who bought into the YSL mystique without really paying attention to the soul of its creator ( or what soul was there before he was engulfed in drugs, alcohol and the power of his own myth), who loved Pilati’s stuffy, stuck-up, stiff uneasy tributes, in a safe, fake quest for a going-nowhere minimalism. If you like Celine you’ll never like this ( and thank god for that).
ps doesn’t Kim look like a scruffier, grungier, but eventually more fabulous version of Betty Catroux?
